The Sealy Area Historical Society held the annual old-fashioned style Spring Picnic on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, April 11 - 13, 2014 on the grounds of the Santa Fe Museum located at 211 East Main, at the corner of Silliman and East Main, in Sealy, Texas.  See the 2014 Spring Picnic activities and entertainment below.

Great Promise for American Indians - Dancing & Drumming 
A group from Great Promise for American Indians will perform traditional Native American Indian dances wearing authentic clothing and play traditional music starting at 4:00 PM on Saturday.

Waltzing Demonstration by Reenactors - New this year!
Civil War era reenactors will dance waltzes true to the 1860s.  The dancers will be wearing authentically reproduced gowns, uniforms and suits from the 1860s.  This will be an unusual treat.  Come learn to waltz as they did in the 1800s!  Waltzing will begin at 5:00 PM on Saturday.

Bluebonnet Master Gardeners' Annual Plant Sale
The Bluebonnet Master Gardeners will hold their annual plant sale on Saturday in conjunction with the Spring Picnic - find great native plants!

Returning for an Encore!

Vintage Baseball Games
At 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM the Houston Babes and the Katy Combines will play baseball as it was played in the 1860s -  no gloves, handmade baseballs and authentic uniforms!

Antique Car, Buggy & Tractor Parade
At 12:00 noon a collection of antique trucks, cars, wagons and tractors will make its way from the Liedertafel on West Main to the Santa Fe Museum on East Main.

Marionette Show - Beauty and the Beast
Carranza Puppets will return with their new feature marionette show Beauty and the Beast.  The performance begins at 1:00 PM Saturday.

Antique Clothing & Household Exhibit
A collection of antique clothing and accessories along with household items from yesteryear will make up this year's special Spring Picnic exhibit.

Early Texas Battle Reenactments
Reenactors will camp overnight on Friday, April 11 and Saturday April 12.  The reenactors' encampment will be open to the public Saturday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM and on Sunday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.  On Friday, April 11, students from area schools are invited to visit the encampment and learn about early military life in Texas.  Battle reenactments, including firing of cannons, will take place all three days.  The campsites will be authentic with soldiers and civilians on hand to tell about early life in Texas.

Demonstrations
Demonstrations of woodworking, spinning, forging iron, knife construction and many other skills from the past. 

Vendors
Vendors will be on hand all day Saturday selling handmade items, items grown on local farms and vintage and antique items.

Great Food and Drinks
During the day on Saturday the Sealy Area Historical Society will sell chicken and beef fajitas with sides and fixings and great hotdogs.  Other vendors will also be selling desserts, snow cones and other food items.  No alcoholic beverages are allowed or sold until after 5:00 PM.
