2012 Spring Picnic Quilt Show & Sale

In conjunction with the 2012 Spring Picnic, the Sealy Area Historical Society will sponsor the “Airing of the Quilts.” Sealy residents will display quilts on porches and in front yards.  A quilt exhibit and show will be held at the Liedertafel located at 116 Lux Street in Sealy, TX.  Click on "Spring Picnic Map" for printable map.  

On Friday, March 30 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM a Quilt Show Reception will be held at the Liedertafel in Sealy.  See map for the Spring Picnic.  Appetizers and refreshments will be served.  Dr. Kate Ledbetter will present “A Victorian Needlework and British Quilting Tour” at 7:00 PM.  Dr. Ledbetter is a professor at Texas State University and a professional quilt appraiser, award-winning quilter, and scholar of nineteenth-century needlework.  She is author of Victorian Needlework, a guide to nineteenth-century needlework techniques, technology, resources, significance, and practices.  Dr. Ledbetter will be available to appraise quilts during the Quilt Show on March 31, 2012 for a fee of $25.00 per quilt.  To schedule an appraisal contact Dr. Ledbetter at kittylovesblue@hotmail.com.  Admission to the reception on March 30 is $8.00.  Admission to the Quilt Show on March 31 is $2.00.  

The Quilt Show will have volunteers on hand during the show to insure that quilts and other hand-made items will not be handled without white cotton gloves.  The Sealy Area Historical Society will do everything we can to insure that your items are not damaged.  However, the Sealy Area Historical Society cannot be responsible for damages to items displayed in the Quilt Show.

Please complete the form below for each quilt or antique linen item you would like to display at the Spring Picnic Quilt Show and Sale.  The Show will be held at the Liedertafel on West Main Street in Sealy on March 31, 2012 from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  You may pick up your quilts between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Saturday, March 31, 2012.

You may sell your items.  The price must be on the item for sale.  The purchaser will write a check or pay cash.  The check will be made payable to the quilt owner/exhibiter named below.  We ask that 10% of the price of items sold be donated to the Sealy Area Historical Society.  

All items must be delivered to the Liedertafel between 9:00 AM and Noon on Friday, March 30, 2012.  All items may be removed after the show between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Saturday, March 31, 2012 or on Sunday, April 1, 2012 between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
